JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Reach out to and develop a deeper engagement with alumni in various industries and companies to increase their level of affinity with SMU

  • Create and build affinity alumni groups and relationships based on companies and industries

  • Build a strong network of employers, hiring teams, corporate partners and sponsors

  • Develop content for the professional development series of talks and workshops for alumni to meet their career and professional development needs

  • Manage the alumni career resources, industry events, programmes and industry collaborations to further career opportunities for alumni

  • Build the corporate profiles of alumni through LinkedIn and update the alumni database

  • Strengthen and leverage on the alumni network of contacts to benefit the alumni community

  • To encourage alumni to be involved in SMU and give back, eg. alumni-led events and initiatives, and giving back of gifts, expertise and connections.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree with at least 10 years of experience in alumni engagement, partnership development, events and marketing in the higher education sector

  • Proven industry experience with the ability to build corporate relationships and relate to all levels of people from across industries

  • Takes ownership & responsibility

  • Acts to serve/advance organization's interests

  • Constantly looking out for and implementing better ways to do things more efficiently or effectively

  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, speech and leads by example

  • Promotes a harmonious and conducive working environment

  • Adept in establishing and maintaining relationships and partnerships of all levels

  • Interacts with others effectively in a team/group context

  • Effective negotiator to achieve department's goals

  • Leads cross-functional teams and inter-department projects effectively to achieve department's objectives

  • Thinks and acts in a strategic manner to fulfill the long term vision and goals

  • Explores creative options and approaches to foster collaborations and maximize resources
